App
Overview
The straying of pets implies not only a considerable loss for a family, but also generates anxiety and worry in their owners. An estimated 100 thousand dogs and cats are lost or stolen each year in the United States alone. There are products on the market that aim to offer a solution to this problem, featuring collars and dedicated apps
Goal
Develop an effective tool for tracking and locating pets, offering a positive and reassuring experience for both owners and pets. This will be achieved through a system that tracks the pet’s collar in real time and notifies the user of its location and health.
Problems
Users of these products often encounter unintuitive interfaces, menus that are difficult to navigate, and technical issues with the physical product, which are often accompanied by an app that does little to help resolve these problems.
Tools
I conducted interviews with users and secondary research, and with the information obtained I created Empathy Maps and a table of needs and actions to better understand their behavior.

Ideal journey
For this product, I had to consider the entire user experience, from searching for and purchasing the product to putting it on their pet and using the app. Even though I weren’t creating a physical product, I wanted the entire user journey to feel polished, and for that journey to help us create an app that is more intuitive and functional at every step.
Tools
A User Journey “as to be” was performed to visualize the ideal path from ordering the product to linking it to the app. This is because during the research the users had problems with this process, so the user journey is designed to find opportunities at every step.
Final insights
Security
Users need multiple layers of security to feel confident that
their pet will be safe while they're away.
Detailed transparency
Users need to be able to quickly and easily access detailed
information, such as: the pet's location, safety, current status, etc.
Customization
Users feel more connected to products that offer customization
options for their pets, so incorporating different levels of customization in
various areas can help build a stronger connection with the user.
Main challenge
How might we design a product that is accessible and easy to handle for users with physical and visual disabilities?
Solution
It was important to keep this challenge in mind at all times, since many pet owners rely on their pets for companionship or simply don’t have much time to deal with confusing products. This helped me design a product that’s more user-friendly at every step.

Visual design
The app was designed taking into account the accessibility and
usability of the main features, to serve the user's needs.
